Prospective Students

Interested in the B.A. program? Join us for a live information session (TBD).

The B.A. (Medicine and Health Sciences); Faculty Program in Population and Global Health is designed for those who want to tackle health-related challenges at a “glocal” (global-local) level. Students interested in improving the health and well-being of communities across a variety of contexts can pursue this program. Firmly rooted in the principles of equity and social justice, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the social determinants of health, ethics, policy and the broader contexts that shape health outcomes worldwide. Graduates of the program will also emerge with foundational skills and knowledge needed to tackle complex and pressing issues in population and global health.

One of the cornerstones of this program is the two experiential learning opportunities: 1) a semester-long (24 hours) community engaged learning experience that gives students hands-on experience working in local communities, and 2) a semester-long (455 hours) experiential learning experience that provides students with a comprehensive practical experience in communities, encouraging students to work in collaborative and interdisciplinary environments. Students in this program will be supported by course instructors, advisors and administrators in the Department of Global and Public Health (DGPH). More information on the requirements of the experiential learning component of the program can be found under the DGPH Experiential Learning website. In addition to being a part of a department that fosters a sense of community and mentorship, students can also benefit from the resources and events organized by the Department of Global and Public Health and School of Population and Global Health. Students who would like more support in the program can be matched with a graduate student mentor in our mentorship program, guiding students through their program completion.
