Practicum & Internship Information

Overview of Training Opportunities

Students conduct their first practica in assessment and psychotherapy in the Department of Psychology’s Virginia I. Douglas Center for Clinical Psychology. Beginning in their third year, students have the option to participate in external practica in public-sector sites in Montréal. In recent years, our students have completed practica in a number of clinics at the , including the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Unit and the Mood Disorders Program, and the . Note that the program cannot guarantee the availability of specific external practica.

Please note that we do not have a neuropsychology track, and we cannot guarantee that students in our program will be able to meet the requirements for licensure as a neuropsychologist by the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec. Students whose primary goal is to practice as a neuropsychologist would be better served by a different training program.

The First Year


In their first year, students enroll in several courses teaching basic assessment and interviewing skills, i.e., Psyc 615/616, 617/618, and 780.
