This year's theme for the Annie Macdonald Langstaff Wo rkshops series is “Mothers-in-law”: Intergenerational Dialogues on Women a nd Human Rights\, and is organized in collaboration with the Centre for Hu man Rights and Legal Pluralism.\n\nAbout the speaker\n\nIsabel Jaramillo-S ierra is currently a full professor at Universidad de los Andes\, Faculty of Law. She holds a law degree from Universidad de los Andes (Cum Laude) a nd an SJD from Harvard Law School. She has written\, co-edited\, and coord inated several publications on the reform of abortion laws\, sexual violen ce and criminal law\, legal education\, gender perspectives in higher educ ation\, transitional justice\, comparative private law\, and the influence of family law in producing families and exclusion.\n\nShe is the co-found er of Red Alas\, a network of scholars interested in the inclusion of sexu al and gender perspectives in Latin American legal education. Professor Ja ramillo-Sierra has also been consultant to the Colombian government on iss ues of transitional justice\, and sexual and reproductive rights. In 2017\ , former President Juan Manuel Santos nominated Professor Jaramillo-Sierra as a Justice of the Constitutional Court of Colombia.\n\nAbout the theme \n\nThe theme for the 2021-2022 Annie MacDonald Langstaff Workshop series - “Mothers-in-Law: Intergenerational Dialogues on Women and Human Rights” - underscores the value of conversation across generations for enriched kn owledge and understanding\, meaningful commitment to equality\, and inspir ed feminist action. As was the case in 2020-2021\, the Centre for Human Ri ghts and Legal Pluralism is co-sponsoring the Faculty of Law’s series dedi cated to the memory of Annie MacDonald Langstaff\, the first woman to grad uate in law from Ŀ;. Following the same format as last year\, women ju rists who are leaders and mentors in their respective fields of study and practice are invited to engage in dialogue with women doctoral students as sociated with the Centre.
