°Ä¿Í¾º²Ê Desautels aims to serve as a model on composting
°Ä¿Í¾º²Ê Desautels is taking a major step in sustainability by becoming the first Faculty to introduce composting bins on every floor. This initiative aligns with °Ä¿Í¾º²Ê’s zero-waste by 2035 goal and has already diverted 47% of waste from landfills.
Launched in early 2024, the program began in the Armstrong Building, achieving a 40% waste diversion rate before expanding to Bronfman with 50 composting stations. Education is key, with students and staff learning proper waste sorting. Supported by °Ä¿Í¾º²Ê’s Sustainability Projects Fund (SPF), the initiative has strong student involvement from MUS and IMSF.
By reducing methane emissions and promoting sustainable habits, Desautels sets a model for other Faculties to follow.
